The 3 Pillars of Health
Optimize Longevity
It seems the older we get the more frantic our search for the mythical ‘fountain of youth’ becomes, whether that be via cream, pill, or peel. But still we are indoctrinated into the notion that with age our beauty fades (Don’t worry…THERE IS A PRODUCT FOR THAT!)
In the same breath we are so often told it’s shameful to care about the external. We have almost taken self-love and self- care to an unrecognizable extreme of sorts. Perhaps that’s for another day.
And while many of our clients need to learn how to truly love themselves, the idea of “I don’t like X about myself, what can I do to change?” in my opinion, isn’t inherently wrong. In fact, it seems to be one of the most powerful things that one can do.
Perhaps a simple google, something along the lines of “how to reduce fine lines” introduced you to collagen. And it was all over from there- trying to fix fine lines lead to, optimizing hormones, nutrition for energy, and wellness exercises to manage stress. Or maybe we have completely tricked you into thinking we are cool and this is what the cool kids do. No matter what it was that introduced you to the wellness scene and more specifically to our corner of the internet, I would like to welcome you.
Now for the good stuff…
The idea of optimizing longevity is to stay ‘young’ (looking and feeling) for as long as possible with minimal effort. Earlier this week we introduced the Three Pillars on IG and goal setting- But we wanted to dive a little deeper into the Three Pillars.
These Three Pillars are-
Nourish, Move, and Restore.
Nourish
Encompassing all that we eat and drink, the dieting aspect of the pillars. This is how you fuel yourself. Subcategories include: gut-health, fasting, hydration, and various forms of dieting.
Move
Anything and everything involving movement. It’s what we were made to do. The only true thing the body is- a vehicle to get through life. We usually think of various forms of exercise, like lifting weights. But this also includes walking, stretching, chasing after the kids, putting the dishes away, anything that isn’t sedentary.
Subcategories include: weight lifting, yoga, running, walking, hiking, and climbing.
Restore
Recharging the battery. This includes sleep, stress management, and resets. We touched heavily on this last week with sleep here. However, that isn’t the only area of recovery.
Subcategories include: sleep, mental health, and active rest.
Which are all apart of a larger category of the ever-growing self-care.
